Cleaning reduction tip think before you trample No1

Cleaning prevention tip think before you trample No1

I am going to be running a series of blogs over the coming days and weeks which will be aimed at what I call cleaning reduction! Strictly speaking these tips will be focused more on minimising domestic cleaning in your household, ways to stop the spread of grime by preventing its spread throughout your property.

Think before you trample

No1 on my list is boots, shoes, trainers, think before you trample! When you return to your household it is always a very good practice to remove your footware just before entering as it is amazing the amount of dirt and filth that you can deposit throughout your household onto your carpets, tiles and wooden floors if you can't be bothered!

Removing your footware will help minimise the need for shampooing carpets, mopping floors etc, saving your time, money on electricity, cleaning materials and also increase the life span of carpets and wooden floors etc.

No problem don't you believe it!

Do you find like me that a common phrase that people use on a regular basis these days when dealing with customers, clients and or even socially is NO PROBLEM!

Yes sir, certainly sir that will be no problem, can you deliver, yes no problem.

My house is on fire, no problem sir!

Where as this annoying saying of no problem come from?

My gut feeling always when someone mentions to me that it is no problem is actually what they mean is I wish you hadn't phoned and caused me this problem!

To me no problem always means there is nine times out of ten an under lying problem!

What do you think?

Stock renewal order on time!

Well I have just returned slightly earlier than usual from an afternoon feeding the mouths on people's doors with my circulars.

The reason that I have finished earlier today than usual is due to the reason that I have completely run out of circulars and my next order is not due to arrive until the middle of next week! So now I am stuck for a few days twiddling my thumbs waiting for their arrival.

Usually I judge my re ordering much better than this, but what as caught me out this time is the wonderful weather that we are having, I have been staying out for longer periods of time and hence shifting larger quantities of circulars in a session.

Domestic housekeeping trades fully explained

Domestic housework trades explained

Household domestic Cleaning work can be divided up into several different sub categories or trades much like those found in other industries such as the building industry for example where you find many trades working under the builders banner, including such trades as bricklayers, joiners/carpenters, plasterer, roofer, ceramic tiler, painter and decorator, electrician, plumber etc.

The various different trades within domestic housework as I have categorized them are as follows: -

Carpet and Upholstery Cleaners

Carpet and Upholstery cleaners specialise in shampooing carpets and household upholstery.

Chimney Sweeps

Chimney Sweeps specialise in cleaning household chimneys by the use of industrial type vacuum cleaners and chimney sweep brushes and rods.

Domestic Cleaning maid

The domestic cleaning maid will do most jobs such as general hovering, dusting throughout, mopping of tiled floors, cleaning of bathrooms, ensuites and kitchens, cob webbing and polishing of woodwork etc.

Home Help

Home-helpers will generally do cleaning, tidying up, dish washing, socializing (providing company for older clients) and general errands such as doing bits of food shopping etc

Housekeeper

The domestic housekeeper is as near as you will find to a Jack-of-all-trades within the domestic cleaning industry. Usually the housekeeper will within reason do the domestic cleaning, tidying up, ironing, clean ovens & hobs, also he/she will usually be quite prepared to include some home help type of jobs such as dishwashing, socializing and shopping errands etc.

Ironing Lady

The Ironing lady will as the job description states do your entire household ironing for you.

Oven,Hob Cleaners

Oven, hob cleaners offer a specialist oven and hob cleaning service to a high standard.

Window Cleaners

Window cleaners will clean your windows externally and increasingly these days internally also.

Also there are categories such as aupairs and live in nannies, but in both these cases I feel that you are beginning to drift a little too far away from the general domestic housekeeper.

There are also an increasing number of cleaning companies that are now offering the services of sexy cleaning maids, but I will just categorise them for this purpose as Domestic Cleaning maids.

Can you spot a trade that I have missed?

health and safety advice circular distribution

Circular distribution health & safety what is that all about then?

Surely just posting leaflet through peoples letterboxes should not require any health & safety advice!

Well if you are thinking any of the above then you are thinking wrong as there is a like any other business activity serious health & safety issue to consider.

The health & safety issues concerned with circular distribution are outlined below.

The first issue involves you actually getting to your circular distribution destination. Make sure that if you are travelling there by any vehicle that on your arrival you park in a safe area that is not going to potentially place pedestrians or other road users in a dangerous situation i.e.:- do not park close to corners or block access on pavements. Leave ample room so as not to impair the visibility of other road users.

Secondly, make sure that you are wearing suitable clothing for the day, especially footwear as ill fitting shoes will cause you to be susceptible to getting blisters and so curtail your business activities prematurely.

Be careful when approaching households to observe whether there are any warning notices on householders gates or houses warning of guard dogs or any other potential hazards that you might have to face by entering their property. Enter with care and observe at all times!

If there are no warning signs but there is a gate to open and close please enter with care, I would advise a brief hesitation immediately after opening the gate before actually entering, just long enough for you to grab any dogs attention. If there is a loose dog at least you will then be able to escape safely by shutting the gate quickly again.

Also be careful of gate catches etc that when opening them you do not trap your fingers as often they can be awkward and stiff at first to open and then after exerting mild pressure they suddenly move freely and catch you unaware trapping and cutting fingers etc. Be cautious be careful!

Be careful when crossing from one side of the road to the other. Remember your green cross code. Look left, look right, look left again, listen and if all is clear then cross the road taking care not to trip up when mounting kerbs etc. Remember look and listen, take care!

Keep alert when walking down householder's driveways as often driveways have potholes or slabs with odd corners that stick up proud. Tripping over could cause you sprained ankles or even breakages, which obviously the latter could cause your business to have weeks of inactivity and cost you lots of new business. Beware of trip hazards!

Lastly be very careful when placing your leaflets through householders letter boxes not to let your fingers go through draught excluders etc as often there is a dog there waiting patiently to bite you. I am aware of an instance a few years ago of a post lady whom lost a couple of fingers because she didn't keep her fingers the safe side of the letter box. So please beware! be cautious and careful always whilst performing this operation..

If God Created Man

I have often thought long and hard about this question, if God created man, then who or what created God? does anyone know the answer? Where does God come from? surely if God or our Lord created us then God can not just have appeared out of thin air! surely there as to be a birth or beginning for everything including God. I am not suggesting that I am not religious but I do like answers to questions and this one as baffled me for years. Can anyone come up with a valid answer.

Franchise pay as you go package

With the economic climate as it is at present I am wondering whether to start offering my franchise in a pay as you go format as an alternative to buying the full package outright.

I am only just starting to think about this idea and at present I do not know if and how I would make it work.

As anyone had any experience of this type of package? And if so what would you say are the strengths and weaknesses with it?

Any feedback would be great.

franchise business research and make yourself well aware of any potential threats

If you are considering franchising out your business model I would recommend that you first research and make yourself well aware of any potential threats that lay out there waiting for you that could cause you and your business severe problems particularly during the early stages of trying to get your franchise business established in the franchise market place.

Some of the main threats as I see them that could cause your new franchise business to stutter or totally collapse around your feet before it as even got off the ground are as follows: -

Have you priced your franchise model at a cost effective but competitive rate?

Continuing growth of existing franchise business competitors.

As well as your business there may well also be a continuing stream of other new franchise business competitors entering into your chosen market place.

A large quantity of independent small companies already trading in your market place might well make your franchise less appealing to potential franchisees.

Low rates of unemployment could mean a limited amount of new entrepreneurs looking for franchise business opportunities.

There are many other potential threats that exist those that I have outlined above are only the tip of the iceberg, please feel free to contribute to my list with any potential threats that you might be aware of that may threaten someone trying to get their new franchise business model off the ground.

franchise business opportunities what are the advantages

franchise business opportunities what are the advantages?

Many different people have asked me what if any are the advantages of buying a franchise business against just starting a business all on their own. This is a very good question, so well are there any advantages I can hear you ask? And if so come on then what are they?

Well one very important and big advantage of a franchise business is that you are buying a business model that as been thoroughly tried and tested out by the franchisor and proven to work, meaning you do not have to worry yourself will the thought of will my business work. If you follow the franchisors business model and guidelines and also put in the commitment required then you will have a thoroughly great chance of creating for yourself a successful businesss.

Other advantages of a frachise business are that you do not need to worry about the legal, registering of a company name and the insurance side of setting up a business because this will be provided for you within your franchise business package.

Also you will be buying an established brand against having to work very hard to establish your own new brand if you were to start up independently with your own business.

You will not be all alone without anywhere to turn when you own a franchise business as advice or help on different many and varied business matters is readily available to you from your franchisor, whereas if you set up your own business you can often be left out on a limb without nobody to turn to!

You can start trading usually very much quicker with a franchise business, which can help you greatly to minimise the time it takes for you to start generating a serious liveable income!

A much greater percentage of franchise businesses succeed than none franchise businesses. There is in the region of a 90% success rate with franchise businesses. The failure rate for none franchise businesses is muc higher.

These are just some of the many advantages of a franchise business over a none franchise business please feel free to add any others that you may think of.

Franchise Operational Manuals

Franchise manuals

Usually as part of any franchise package the new franchisee is given the companies franchise manual. Franchise manuals are usually linked to the companies franchise contract and as such its contents should at all times remain strictly confidential and upon the franchisee deciding to either sell his or her business or just for what ever reason give up their business then the Franchise manual should always be returned to the franchisor.

The Franchise manual/bible/operational manual should be written in a straight forward and easy to digest and understand manner to such a degree that if it were to be lost then who ever was to find it would be able to pick it up read it and be able to follow it and if they were so minded start trading in that business field.

It is for this reason that the Franchise manual is tied to the franchise agreement, basically it carries all the franchise company's trade secrets and operating systyems and for obvious reasons it should not enter into other peoples hands outside of the scope of the franchise business.

cleaning franchises

There are many many different cleaning franchises out their for prospective franchisees to choose from.

Are they all much of a muchness?

Well the answer to that question is definitely no.

There are various cleaning franchises that specialize solely in domestic cleaning, some of these you are expected to get hold of the duster and work yourself (manual work), where as others you merely manage cleaners and clients (management franchise). Usually a domestic cleaning management franchise can prove to be more profitable as overheads are much less and expansion is much easier and quicker due to low overheads and the domestic cleaning work contracted out on an agency basis.

Several types of cleaning franchises specialize solely in commercial and industrial cleaning or a combination of the two. These are usually hands on businesses or as you grow them they require you to employee staff and also run a PAYE system.

There are also many other specialist cleaning franchises such as oven cleaning, carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning etc, all of these franchises you need to actually go out and do the manual work yourself. In my mind although probably I am slightly biased I would prefer the management style franchise against the manual job type one! ;-)

Maybe if I dare suggest HERE is worth consideration!

Sexy Maids 4 all your household chores!

Yes sexy maids 4 all your household chores. This is a growing service within the domestic cleaning industry.

Clients usually have a choice of whether they would like their sexy maid to dress up in erotic skimpy clothing or even clean for you while totally nude!

The sexy maids usually range from being very pretty young ladies up to and including mature middle aged ladies.

They usually offer you a regular weekly service for a few hours on a set day of each week, although they do also cater for one off cleans.

Myself I often wonder what type of person would wish to use this type of service but who ever they are there certainly must be quite alot of them about as there appears to be more and more of these sexy maid cleaning services appearing. Maybe you already use your local sexy maid cleaning service or are thinking of doing so in the near future?

I would be interested in finding out what type of person would be happy to pay for this type of service.

Cleaning Local Garden Sheds Business Opportunity?

I have just spent this afternoon totally clearing out and domestically cleaning one of my garden sheds. Whilst doing my shed cleaning chores I put on my business opportunity thinking hat! I have never heard or seen advertised any where a business offering a shed cleaning, re organising or valeting service. Maybe this is a well established type of business in places but I have never come across one of these businesses around Lincolnshire where I live, maybe you know differently?

I can see a tremendous opportunity here for someone with self motivation, basic marketing skills, full driving licence, willingness to work hard and most importantly do a first class job.

To get started it might be an idea to draw up a few interior shed designs for various sized sheds, for shelving arrangments, cupboard standing areas, work benches/areas etc etc so as to give yourself a professional appearance when meeting clients and pricing up their jobs. Obviously if you get your price right and do a top class job you should find that once the word gets around about your business and standard of work you may well get plenty of referal work from satisfied customers, also you may well get repeat work as over a period of time I am sure alot of customers would instead of keeping their garden sheds clean and tidy, would let them gradually return to their original untidy mess.

Things you would require would be a vehicle to get you from A to B, a few basic tools ie:- brush, screw drivers, battery drill, dust pan and brush, probably an hammer and a few nails and screws etc.

Also you would require stationary for sending out invoices, and an accounts book for keeping your companies financial records. Don't forget also to take out a liability insurance to safe guard yourself against disaster!

You would also require a name for your company although that could be as simple as Ivor Job Shed Valeting Services, or Ida Newidea Shed Cleaning Company. or just plain I B Trading as Garden Shed Cleaners etc.

To get your business up and running you would need to market it. The best way would be to do leaflet drops at targeted areas such as large houses with large gardens, council estates with attached allotments etc. Other ways to advertise your business would be newspaper adverts in your local paper and also telephone books, You could even get yourself a little website made up and so long as you had good search engine optimism (seo) within the code and pages then enquiries would start coming your way. To give it an initial push you could use google adwords for carefully selected keywords and phrase like garden shed cleaning, summer house cleans, shed interior renovation etc etc

Can anyone else see potential here? or have I already missed the boat?

Health & Safety The Robotic Mode Whats The Cure?

Domestic Cleaning Franchise | Work From Home | Home Based Business | Franchise Business Opportunity | Management Franchise | Franchise Advice | Be Your Own Boss

I often wonder if I am alone in the world in my belief that obviously not all, but very many work place accidents happen when people go into what I call robotic mode?

My definition of robotic mode is to give just one example from within the building industry, someone who lays bricks day in day out for arguments sake knows his job that well that he can fall mentally into a world of his own and instead of concentrating on the job in hand his mind is maybe wandering away to the pool match that coming evening or taking his girlfriend out to the Friday night disco, whilst he is in this state of mind even though his body is functioning and laying bricks perfectly his mind is far far away. In this dangerous state of mind if he is working high up on scaffolding and someone as left a trip hazard in front of him he may well not see it or realize that it is there and trip over and seriously injure himself if not tragically fall to his death! Some people may well call it daydreaming but I like to refer to it as robotic mode.

The point that I am trying to make is that when you are writing health & safety policies along with risk assessments and method statements how can you cater for the robotic mode? In my company one of my risk assessments that I have wrote asks for workers to stay alert at all times, but from my own experience this is nie on impossible for workers to do, especially when they are doing repetitive jobs. Can anyone come up with a cure? Other than spraying them with cold water every five minutes or so! We do have a responsibility for our own health & safety as well as other and across the board it is doing what is seen to be reasonably practical, but I believe many work place accidents are down to robotic mode and if a cure could be found to this problem it could save many lives and 1000s of injuries.

Company Logos is your Logo Recognised!

It is very important for a company that wishes to go places to have a logo that is eye catching and easily remembered. Mcdonalds M comes to my mind first as it probably will do to many people, eyecatching for its simplicity and instantly associated with obesity! lol, Other simple eye catching logos that come to mind are the the Kentucky colonel, Nike, Virgin, Coca Cola etc etc. Looking at all these large companies they have all gone for a simple design either using their company names as a simple graphic logo or instead used a simple logo design that as become an integral and recognised part of their brand as an whole.

Why are some logos better known than others?

Many large companies that do not have or need an outlet on the High Street either to work from or display their products are straight away at a disadvantage and can struggle to get their logo nationally or internationally recognised. High Street outlets like Mcdonalds, Burger King, Kentuckies etc tend to trade in very prominent places, near to busy roundabouts, busy junctions, and motorway services areas etc. I believe that this helps to get their logos to a much higher level. Also these mega companies generate the income to have vast advertising budgets and hence they can get their logo shown to millions through television advertising as well as on billboards up and down the country and worldwide. Mcdonalds like their competitors have their logos on all their food packaging and it is not unusual to see a Mcdonalds package blowing down the street or stuck out of a bin.

Other companies that are large within their own niche of the market place like Domestic Cleaning Companies, Oven Cleaning or valeting companies, Regional Developers, etc because they are usually not to be found on the High Street and rely on leaflet distribution, local newspaper advertising, word and mouth, small internet presence etc are never going to get into the same league of recognision with their company logos. This although does not mean for one minute that they are not a quality company because their logo is not as recognisable as some of those other business giants! Also some of these companies logos are only ever seen at the time of initial contact when the company was first found in the yellow pages for example. Once the client becomes a client they probably do not see the company logo again, this is not a failing it is because companies work in vastly different ways as they are offering totally different services. Also it is maybe not a regular weekly event that a client looks at obtaining certain business services it may only be once every five years or so and thus some large companies do not get the viewing to gain the recognision because the type of service that they offer is not an every day thing like food!

Franchise information That prospective Franchisees Ought To Consider

Domestic Cleaning Franchise Work From Home Home Based Business Franchise Business Opportunity Management Franchise Franchise Advice Be Your Own Boss

Before travelling miles to an initial meeting to discuss a business opportunity with a franchisor it is useful for the prospective franchisee to consider the following important points first.

  • How serious are you about this franchise opportunity?

  • Do you match upto the franchisors franchisee job discription/profile?

  • Have you looked into other similiar franchise opportunities to build up more of a picture of this particular type of franchise?

  • Research this type of business to gain more of an understanding about it?

  • Check out the area where you would wish to run your business to find out what competiton already exists?

  • Have you got any experience that may be of benifit to you within this field of business?

  • Are you really cut out for this type of business?

  • How adaptable are you to learning?

  • Could you adapt your present lifestyle to run your franchise business properly?

  • Would your family if applicable support you in your business venture?

  • Would you have the self motivation to succeed with your new franchise business?

  • Can you afford the franchise in the first place and if not how would you raise the capital to finance it?

  • Could you survive for the first few months financially whilst the business got itself established?

  • All these questions can be answered through doing a little research and I would strongly recommend doing so before arranging an initial meeting with the franchise business owner. You may unfortunetly find out that the particular franchise that you were interested in would not be suitable for you.

This would save yourself valuable time in not having to travel potentially miles to meet up with the franchisor only to be turned down due to unsuitability.

Franchise Advice, Questions To Ask The Franchisor

Some basic advice when looking to purchase a franchise is to check out on the franchisors previous track record with his existing franchisees. Phone around their existing franchisees and ask for their honest opinion on the following questions to help you build up a good picture of the Franchisor. This is very important as there are franchisors out there who are very unhelpful towards franchisees within their network and I believe that this is a must for any prospective franchisee to under take.

  • How forth coming with information was the franchisor when enquiring initially about the business?

  • Do you think in hindsight the franchisor was more interested in signing you up than whether you were suitable for the business?

  • Did the franchisor deliver what he/she promised?

  • Was the training the franchisor provided adequate for your business needs?

  • Does the franchisor offer extra training if required at their sole expense?

  • Does the franchisor make site trips if required?

  • How helpful was the franchisor in the early days in helping you set up your business?

  • How easy is the franchisor to get hold of?

  • How long does the franchisor take to get back to your phone calls/emails?

  • Does the franchisor have a willingness to help you out if required?

  • Does the franchisor still maintain good personal contact with you and the other franchisees in the network on a regular basis?

South Devon U F O Revisited With Pictures

I wrote a blog on the 22nd of December called U F O over South Devon, a few people asked me if I could show them a picture, well I have finally worked out how to get a picture on here and below my original blog that I have copied below you will find two pictures. Please take into account that the pictures were taken using my table top tripod over a two second time span and the actual object when viewing it directly was just a bright orange dot!

Whilst holidaying this last August down on the coast of South Devon one evening I was out on the balcony of the cottage that we were staying at which over looked the sea taking picture using my camera and tripod of the moon shining its reflection onto the sea. Whilst taking photos I noticed a quite bright but very small orange dot to the west of the moon and slightly lower in the sky. I was very curious as to what it was so I set my camera at a very slow exposure and zoomed in as much as I could. When I looked at the result the orange disc was moving in a quite quick but zig zag fashion.

When we arrived home I was talking to my brother in law Frank whom before I had mentioned anything about my experience mentioned to me that whilst we were away one night that he and two friends were looking South one night when they saw a small orange disc in the sky. As it turned out it was the same night as us. When I told Frank that I had taken a picture of it on my camera he couldn't believe it as he said he had told one or two people whom were very sceptical and they thought that he was losing the plot! As anyone else seen or filmed anything similiar this summer?, My sighting certainly wasn't an airoplane or a shooting star but obviously there must be an explanation. It was certainly a UFO but as for it having little green men on board I am not so sure as I believe that we are not alone in the universe but if a species from another world had the technoledgy to come all the way here then they would have no worries and nothing to fear about making themselves known to us as they would be far and away in advance of us!
